The body of Benjamin Franklin/printer, like an old book, its contents torn out. And stripped of its lettering and gilding, lies here. Food for worms. But the work shall not be lost. It will (as he believed) appear once more, in a new and more beautiful edition, corrected and amended by the Author.

Behind the scenes: Getting Real with free Campfire accounts - (37signals)

37 Signals’ “Getting Real” concept can be hard to grasp, but this really hit home with me today. Nice to read after such a ridiculous morning.

This morning

6:30: Alarm goes off

6:45: Out of bed to run

7:25: Return from run

7:45: Shower, Get Dressed

8:10: Leave for work

8:13: Discover Park Circle Entry ramps to 526Eastbound are closed because of a high speed chase at 7am

8:15: re-route to Starbucks since I’m going to be late anyway

8:45: Wait through Starbucks line for a caramel machiatto

8:55: Discover at drive-through window I left my debit card at home

9:00: Starbucks employee sees I’m having a rough day and gives me the drink for free….guaranteeing another several purchases from the comapny in the near future (for the humane service)

9:10: Arrive back at home to make sure my debit card isn’t gone…I find it

9:20: Arrive at work…late…disheveled, and begin to practice breathing

Moral of the story:

1. Carry Cash

2. RELAX

3. Don’t try to do multiple things at once

Workin’ late night. Not that we hate light. Just feels right. That’s when tracks come out tight.
